HOW WE BEGAN

Christy Pendarvis was the founder of Mission From Mars, an organization that fosters community by bringing various groups to the street of Pittsburgh to provide a weekly meal. In 2015, Christy and her sons (pictured below) started helping the homeless with one-hundred donated lunches. Since that day, she was profoundly impacted and has been delivering meals throughout Pittsburgh.

Passionate about helping underserved and at risk populations, her experience prompted her to identify needs and act. She began to work extensively with homeless living in encampment areas to improve their living conditions and provide much needed social support. She has served as a liaison connecting homeless to existing resources and relies on the Mission From Mars team to help fulfill identified needs. Grateful for the multitude of people that come together every week to help care for our cities homeless. She hopes that others are inspired to get out in the community and help in whatever capacity they can serve.

Christy began a new adventure in the summer of 2021 and now resides in Florida, where she continues to love others well!

Jack and Jennifer Zebo (pictured below with Christy) have taken over the Sunday meal serving and are blessed tremendously by the opportunity.
