Christy Pendarvis is the founder of Mission From Mars, an organization that fosters community by bringing various groups to the street of Pittsburgh to provide a weekly meal. In 2015, Christy and her sons started helping the homeless with one-hundred donated lunches. Since that day, she was profoundly impacted and has been delivering meals throughout Pittsburgh. Previously, she was a long time emergency and critical care nurse that obtained her masters of science in nursing graduate degree. Currently, she is a nationally certificated family nurse practitioner looking for a position in the medical field.

Passionate about helping underserved and at risk populations, her experience prompted her to identify needs and act. She began to work extensively with homeless living in encampment areas to improve their living conditions and provide much needed social support. She has served as a liaison connecting homeless to existing resources and relies on the Mission From Mars team to help fulfill identified needs. Grateful for the multitude of people that come together every week to help care for our cities homeless. She hopes that others are inspired to get out in the community and help in whatever capacity they can serve.
